April 9th, 2018: The British Council and the UK Department of Business Energy and Industrial Strategy alongside their partner the Science Innovation Network announce a new round of applications for Institutional Links grants. Institutional Links grants help scientists in the UK and the Gulf to come together to fight global challenges. Institutional Links grants were launched in 2016 and have funded 8 projects across the Gulf region covering such key sectors as renewable energy and nanotechnology. In Bahrain, the University of Bahrain won a grant in partnership with Loughborough University. The funding limit for this round is 125,000 GBP, which must be matched by the applicant institutions with cash or in-kind. The call is open now and the deadline is June 28th, 16:00 UK time. To be eligible, research projects need to fall under Bahrain specific research theme “Clean and renewable energy solutions”, which may or may not include integration with emerging disruptive technologies with a focus on solar, wind, or energy storage.
