The Sustainable Energy Unit delegation led by H.E. the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs Dr. Abdul Hussein Bin Ali Mirza participated in Gateway Gulf, the largest investor forum in Bahrain on May 8-10, 2018. Gateway Gulf was held under the patronage of H.R.H. Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and Chairman of the Bahrain Economic Development Board. This year, the forum’s motto was “Unlocking the GCC puzzle”. The forum participants focused on the wide range of development, innovation and investment opportunities unleashed by the ongoing economic transition and unprecedented private-sector led development in the region.
H.E. the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs Dr. Mirza highlighted the wealth of opportunities in the area of renewable energy and energy efficiency as he spoke about the current state of affairs in Bahrain’s energy sector: “Our high-growth projection for energy consumption in Bahrain will rise from 3.9 GW today to 7.8 GW in 2030, requiring not only more supply but also more efficiency on the demand side.”
