On May 2nd, 2018, the Sustainable Energy Unit’s Solar Energy expert Alex Al Samahiji delivered an informative lecture on Bahrain’s Net Metering Policy to the staff of the Ministry of Works, Municipalities, Affairs and Urban Planning. Alex outlined the SEU’s role and activities in the area of sustainable energy, outlined Bahrain’s energy situation, and focused on the Net Metering Policy. The Net Metering Policy, along with the Tender-based Feed-In Tariff and the Renewable Energy Mandate for New Buildings, constitute the three policy measures developed under the framework of the National Renewable Energy Action Plan to facilitate the use of renewable energy in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Net Metering Policy was approved by the Cabinet’s Resolution no. 2 in December 2017. The Sustainable Energy Unit provides support to the implementation of the Net Metering Resolution in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
