Under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza, the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, and with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) the Sustainable Energy Unit (SEU) launched the first Wind Atlas of the Kingdom of Bahrain on April 12th, 2018. The Wind Atlas information was presented by EMD International, a global consultancy company specializing in wind projects.

The launch of the Wind Atlas has marked an important milestone for the Kingdom in the areas of renewable energy as it enhances the understanding of wind energy potential, creates new market opportunities and positively contributes towards achieving the national renewable energy targets. The Wind Atlas is an important tool to increase the flow of investment in wind energy similar to previous investments in solar energy. The development of renewable energy resources contributes to the achievement of sustainable development goals and is in line with the Economic Vision 2030.

The Sustainable Energy Unit also presented its brand-new website at www.sea.gov.bh, which would be used to increase public awareness of renewable energy and energy efficiency in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
